Spring Into Health

Spring has sprung! Yesterday was the first day of spring and we are certainly looking forward to sunshine and warmer weather. Spring is a season of growth, rejuvenation. Many of us feel the need to replace the old with new, to clean out your home and organize your things. It is a great time to add healthier habits that you may have put off during the winter months.

Here are a few simple things that you do for a healthier mind, body and spirit this spring.

1. Change up (or begin) an exercise routine. Are you stuck in an exercise rut? With warmer weather coming, exercising outside is the perfect solution. If you are just beginning an exercise routine, going for walks for about 20-30 minutes a day is a great start. Spring can also be a run time to begin a new exercise class. Try a barre class or strength training.
2.Protect your skin. The sun is shining, prevent your skin from getting burned. Make sure to apply UVA/UVB sunscreen that is at least SPF 15 or more. Reapply often, especially after swimming. Make sure to remember your sunglasses and a hat too.
3.Pump up your diet. With an abundance of fruits and vegetables in season it is a great time to add more whole foods to your daily diet.
4.Increase water consumption. As it heats up outside, your body will require more water to stay hydrated.
5.Enjoy yourself. Spend time this spring doing activities you love. Get out of the house and explore. Get together with friends or family and enjoy the outdoors.
6.Get a massage. If you have had sore muscles, injury or stress all winter long do yourself (and your health) a favor. Schedule a massage to enter spring feeling restored and renewed.
